A number of tax measures have been introduced for the purpose of combatting the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. These include VAT exemption for a 3-month period commencing 20 March for donations of goods and services for use in the fight against COVID-19, and exemption from import duty and VAT on the final import of certain goods for combatting the effects of the pandemic (the list of goods, deadlines and the conditions are as par Commission Decision (EU) 2020/491 of 3 April 2020). Also, for a 3-month period commencing 20 March, import VAT can be accounted for and reclaimed via the normal VAT return.
